“Graham Thorpe has lately been gravely ill and is currently getting treatment in hospital,” said a PCA statement on Tuesday.
“We ask for privacy for him and his family at this time because his prognosis is unknown. Graham and his family are in our thoughts.”

Thorpe served as England’s batting coach from 2010 to 2022, resigning down in February 2022 after the team’s 4-0 Ashes defeat against Australia.

Thorpe, a former Surrey left-hander who played 100 Tests and scored 16 hundreds before retiring in 2005, was regarded as one of the best English cricketers of his period.
Graham Thorpe England Cricketer then went on to coach in Australia, where he worked with players such as Steve Smith and David Warner at New South Wales, before joining the England and Wales Cricket Board as a batting coach.
