Hazareโs first class record is quiet impressive scoring 18,740 runs at an average of 58.38 scoring 60 centuries.ย In International test matches he scored 2,192 runs with average of 47.65 in 30 matches.
Not just with the bat Vijay Hazare was vital for his bowling taking 595 first class wickets. He dismissed greatest player Sir Don Bradman three times.
The most famous performance by Hazare was when India toured Australia in 1947-48 for the first time where he smashed centuries in each innings of Adelaide test.
While International Cricket had stopped during the Second World War, Indian players kept playing domestic cricket during that time. He is highly credited to keep the game alive in the country.
Hazare has been honored with a tournament under his name, Vijay Hazare trophy a domestic tournament which is popular in India.
