SL versus AUS: On Tuesday, Australia revealed their playing XI for the first Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Australia heavy guns were named in the playing XI for the first Twenty20 International (T20I) against Sri Lanka on Tuesday at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Mitchell Marsh, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, and Steve Smith had all missed the recent T20Is against Sri Lanka at home. In February and the one-off T20I against Pakistan in Lahore in April, but will return for the first T20I. Australia limited-overs captain Aaron Finch said there was a temptation to play two spinners. But with rain forecast for the next few days, they decided to go in with three fast bowlers.
On Monday, cricket.com.au quoted Finch as stating, “There was a temptation there (to play two spinners), but having seen the conditions over the last couple of days, the square is fairly green, there’s been a lot of rain around, and the outfield is quite heavy.”
“I’m expecting a little spin there, but it might be a tacky kind of spin”. It’s not a dry square, and it’s certainly not a dry surface.
“There hasn’t been a lot of cricket here, and because it’s the rainy season, the wickets are covered a lot more than they would normally be.”
“If Sri Lanka had their choice, it would most likely be drier.” But, lead by (Dushmantha) Chameera, they’ve had a tremendous fast bowling attack in recent years.”
The Premadasa will host the first two T20Is, while the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will host the final T20I. A five-match ODI series and a two-Test series will follow the three-match T20I series.
