On this day Twenty One years ago i.e 14th March 2001, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman batted out the entire day at Eden Gardens in Kolkata against Australia.
Indian cricket team witnessed one of the best partnerships of 376 runs batted by Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman to get India out of trouble against Australia in second Test match.
India had already lost the 1st Test match against Australia and was not in a great position in the 2nd Test match. Australia scored 445 in the First Innings and bowled out India for 171 forcing to follow-on.
India were 232/4 when Captain Sourav Ganguly got dismissed, Rahul Dravid came out bat along with VVS Laxman. The duo batted throughout Day 4 of the Test match rattling Australian Bowling Line up. A partnership of 376 runs scored where Laxman played a knock of 281 runs and India declared scoring 657/7.

Australia had to chase 384 runs on the final day of the 2nd Test match. Off Spinner Harbhajan Singh picked up 6 wickets defeating Australia who went on scoring 212 runs.
The Heroics partnership between Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman is always remembered as best Partnership in the History of Cricket.
Steve Waugh Australian Captain too stated they were on the top of their game. Partnership between the Duo kept them away from the game and they ran out of options.
India did win the series 2-1 ending Australia’s winning streak.
