Butcher was quickly corrected by the Indian captain, who added, “Well, it has occurred before, Kapil Dev was the captain.”

Butcher made the decision to defend his position and argued that Kapil Dev was an all-around player. All fine, all-rounder if you say so, Bumrah stated after deciding not to continue the discussion.

Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara made some quick runs early in the game for India, but their adversary, the 39-year-old James Anderson, recovered and dismissed Gill for 17.
