BCCI Rights: Bidders could invest upto INR 50,000 crore.

BCCI Media Rights is expected to grow to a new height. They have decided to sell media rights for digital and television telecast for year 2023-2027 through e-auction expecting it to happen by march end.

The current media rights are with Star India as they had the highest bid in 2018-2022 for INR 16,347.5 core.

This bidding war could turn interesting as new players Reliance-Viacom 18 and Amazon could join the party along with Sony -Zee

Merger of Sony and Zee could gather more audiences as they already know the market. Sony had the rights for initial 10 years of IPL.

Reliance – Viacom 18 haven’t yet made an entry into Cricket market, it would be interesting how the bidding turn up.  Expecting to start Sports channel since they have acquirred FIFA, Series A, LA Liga and NBA.

Amazon a big player is highly popular in the digital medium.

Facebook and Google other big players have expressed their interest in the digital streaming medium.

BCCI profit and loss statement could uphill the bidding amount.

Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are the two new teams in the IPL, which will generate more revenue for BCCI.

For Star India, Disney + Hotstar application is the online streaming platform whose subscribers have increased over the years. It’s still a question if Star have recovered money from their bid as they developed Hotstar . Their subscribers are highly dependent on Cricket and IPL indirectly company’s growth depends on these subscribers.
