Asia Cup: At the Bandaranaike International Airport, athletes were greeted by representatives of Sri Lanka Cricket and the Sports Ministry.

Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the 2022 Asia Cup final on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium. Pramod Madushan’s four-wicket haul and Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s unbeaten 71-run innings helped Sri Lanka win their sixth Asia Cup title. Following their victory, the players took part in a big victory parade as they returned home on Tuesday morning. The team’s exceptional performance in the competition has garnered praise from all over the world. Sri Lanka Cricket and the Sports Ministry representatives were at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

The players could be seen in the pictures Sri Lanka Cricket posted on Twitter traveling in a double-decker bus as spectators applauded and congratulated them. The players interacted with the crowd as well and gave thanks for all of their support during the country’s turmoil.

Believe in our cricketers…a lot of awful things are going around, captain Shanaka had remarked at the post-match press conference as Sri Lanka’s unparalleled economic crisis served as the backdrop for the cricket team’s Asia Cup campaign. They should enjoy their lives as cricket players and refrain from spreading negativity. They also lead separate lives. Maintaining faith is crucial. I do everything I can as a captain to instill confidence in the guys. That is all I can ask for.

After that, Pramod Madushan swiftly terrified Pakistan by taking two wickets in two deliveries. Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed had a strong 71-run partnership. However, the pressure was growing and their score rate was inadequate.

However, Madushan broke the stand and took his third wicket after Rizwan had reached a half-century. And after that, everything revolved around Sri Lanka. Rizwan, Asif Ali, and Khushdil Shah were all expelled at the same time to terminate Pakistan’s chances.

The Sri Lankan players erupted in jubilation as Pakistan was eventually bowled out for 147 off the penultimate delivery of the match.
