Annu Rani Javelin Throw Sports Won Gold Medal
Born in Uttar Pradesh won gold in the fourth AFI Indian Open Javelin Throw Competition on Sunday. Breaking her own national record in the process.
Annu Rani threw the spear 63.82 meters. A 58-centimeter improvement over her previous national record of 63.24 meters was established in Patiala in March of last year.
The 29-year-old demonstrated that she has moved on from the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics by resetting the national mark for the eighth time since taking it from Suman Devi in June 2014.
Annu Rani had three more throws on Sunday night under floodlights at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, reaching 60.10m, 56.60m, and 58.13m before passing the final two attempts.
Yash Win Gold Medal in U-18
In other action from the day, Yash, a 17-year-old Haryana native, won the boys U-18 gold with a 67.42m opening throw in fading light.
Since September 2019, it was the second-best throw by an Indian U-18 athlete.

Yash followed up his first throw with throws of 65.21, 63.24, 64.05, and 65.46 meters before slowing down with the last throw of 57.85 meters.
Disha, from Delhi, had previously won the girls U-16 event with a best throw of 34.87 meters.
